It's that time of the year again: my mom's birthday and her wedding anniversary! Pretty brilliant if you ask me, getting married on your birthday - nobody forgets that anniversary! My mom, Ari, and her husband, Bob, both love to take spend some downtime at the Chumash casino, which is very close to Ventura where they live. Every so often they make a quick trip and make a day of it, and they have so much fun in the process. It's a whole experience. This year, for their special day, I decided to contribute to their little casino fund in a fun and unexpected way. I painted this cute little card, made up an appropriate rhyme, and origami folded a few bills to help them celebrate. They have a dress and ring for mom and a nice suit and tie for Bob! Happy birthday, mom! Happy anniversary, you two! Win big! :-) Courtesy of ct-sketches press <3

A short while ago, my mom’s husband, Bob, made a special request for a portrait of their cute little dog, Pucki (sounds like cookie). She’s just over a year old, a mix of chiuhuahua and terrier, with a definite strong lean on the terrier side: she looks like a terrier, and she’s a total live wire, this one! :-) Complete with chewing on Bob’s slippers and leaving them in a million bits and pieces, jumping excitedly on everyone, and slipping in a quick face lick when you least expect it, haha! She’s a total cutie pie, a little miss smartie, and she’s loads of fun! And with a face like this, who could resist her! So she became my new project as a birthday present for Bob. Happy birthday, Bob! My mission to paint her cute and lively little face, and all that long fur hanging all over her ears was so much fun! She’s quite a character, and she brings so much joy to both my mom, Ari, and to her husband Bob. They we both so happy to see her portrait, and loved how much it looked like her :-) Here she is, the little spoiled diva who gets chicken breast for treats, with Bob, next to her very own portrait, in a millisecond of holding still :-)
Happy birthday, Bob! May you and mom enjoy Pucki and her portrait for many, many years to come! Love you, guys! Today is my mom's birthday! We celebrated her birthday on Saturday, and I was so excited to finally unveil her birthday present that I've been working on for months: a portrait of her and my grandma, her mom!! This is the last time we saw my grandma, four years ago, and we lost her shortly after. I treasure these moments spent with the three of us together, three generations in the house my mom grew up in. This portrait is a reminder of that special moment, of all the wonderful memories we made together, and of the strong bond and love the three of us share that will go on forever, no matter where we are. Happy birthday, mami! I love you and grandma so, so much!! ❤️ Progress of painting my beautiful ladies! Cheek to cheek, my beautiful mom and grandma! I love you both so much! Adding the finishing touches Framed and ready for mom :-) |
