April showers bring May flowers! It’s May, and I’m all about spring and flowers this month. I was inspired to paint the May calendar by the flowers in the recent SoCal superbloom, the upcoming Mother’s Day, and by Molly Bee, aka @beautsoup on Instagram, who creates fantastic makeup looks and always looks incredible! So I’m going to call this one Flower Girl! ;) And if you want to make Mom happy this Mother’s Day, you can use code MOTHER15 on all my art prints in my shop at cristina-tudor-art.myshopify.com until Tuesday, May 7 at 11:59pm, which is also the last day to order your prints if you want to make sure you get them before Mother’s Day (May 12). As always, all US shipping is FREE! :) Didn't get my April calendar? Sign up at cristinatudor.com today, and it'll pop right in your inbox! Yay, it’s March! Painting this for you made me feel like it's practically spring! And I’m loving all the spring colors, especially the purples and yellows of tulips against that pretty spring green. The calendar for March, Tulip Girl, was inspired by tulips and yellow hats, those fresh spring smells when everything is in bloom, and more sun than we’ve seen here in LA this winter with all the rains and even SNOW last week! Whaaat?? Didn't get my March calendar? Sign up at cristinatudor.com today, and it'll pop right into your inbox! Here's a behind the scenes peek at my illustration process:

Happy (almost) spring! xo, Cristina Find me at cristinatudor.com, on Instagram at @thecristinatudor and on Pinterest at Cristina Tudor Art Welcome to February, the month everyone’s excited about because it not only brings with it a hint of spring, but also Valentine’s Day and a celebration of love. To me, Valentine’s Day, even though it has become so commercialized nowadays, means a switch to fresh creative juices and, of course, a healthy dose of pink ;) And I simply love to get in the spirit of it! Hopefully you do, too, with the help of my Valentine Girl. Didn't get her? Sign up at cristinatudor.com today, and she'll pop right into your inbox! Valentine Girl was inspired by a beautiful pink tulle gown by Reem Acra that I came across on Moda Operandi and simply fell in love with. The sheer layers of tulle, the volume, the romance ... It's their first Valentine's Day, and their hearts are beating as one ... You can find a print of this romantic V Day print in my shop. This was fun to paint free-hand, with no initial pencil sketch, and to try to get the gesture of the kiss with only a few brush strokes. Action shot of adding the red dress hearts, with the watercolor freshly painted. And adding the black contrasting background. The kiss deepens ...
Getting in the mood for Valentine’s Day: painting lots of reds and pinks! For a print of this illustration, please visit my shop. This photo of a gorgeous Marchesa Fall-Winter 2013 fuchsia gown inspired me to let loose with a few suggestive brush strokes and some black contrast drama for a quick sketch. Straight to watercolor sketching, no pencil these days ... mostly. Like learning to let go of crutches ... And jumping to black for added drama. Action shot, with my watercolor palette in the background.
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I was inspired to paint a V-Day kiss and to experiment with a looser watercolor style. It's good to show some love to that untapped potential that comes with getting outside of your own comfort zone. And this Valentine's, I'd like to do just that. For a print of this illustration, please visit my shop. To Valentine Kisses!
