Hey guys
How come it’s June, yet it’s still so cold here in Los Angeles? Haven’t we heard it’s summer yet? ;) Seriously, it’s been raining a lot and it’s been so cold, I just wanna vege. But instead I painted your June calendar, willing summer and beach weather to get here already with my happy Pineapple Girl! Have you seen my very first IG LIVE PAINTING PARTY on Instagram @thecristinatudor? If you haven’t, I painted this very calendar with everyone who showed up, and I was very happy to include everyone in the process. I literally started the calendar with a blank piece of paper, a couple of inspiration images, and my brushes and paints. I sketched a rough outline, painted the illustration with watercolors, talked everyone through my entire process, and in about an hour, we had this calendar ready to go! If you missed out, or you didn’t get my calendar, no worries: I will do another one soon, but make sure to subscribe to my newsletter at cristinatudor.com to be the first to know when I do another live painting party and to get this calendar and future ones directly in your inbox! In the meantime, if you want a supa cool new phone case, head over to my shop at cristina-tudor-art.myshopify.com and check out all the new cases I added, with lots of my illustrations. Let me know which ones are your faves, ok? I'd love to know what you like so I can bring you just the kind of illustrations you love! I hope you like your new calendar this month, and if you do, please let me know. I would love to see photos of your printed calendar (or your phone cases or T-shirts!) and to feature them on my IG account, so tag me @thecristinatudor in your pics and use the hashtag #ctudorcalendar so I can find them :) And if you’d like to brighten up someone’s day, please share my website cristinatudor.com with them so they can sign up for my calendar, too - the minute they sign up, they get the current month's calendar immediately in their inbox. Enjoy Pineapple Girl, and have a great early summer! xo, Cristina

Here's a behind the scenes peek at my illustration process for this month's calendar: I hope you enjoy Hair Bow Girl, and I hope she brings you a warm and sunny spring!
Happy Easter! xo, Cristina My collaboration with Diptyque Paris in Beverly Hills this past Thursday was amazing! I loved customizing @diptyque candle boxes with my illustrations for so many lovely fashion and beauty influencers in Los Angeles! The event, ‘Materials That Stir Emotions’, celebrated the Beverly Hills release of the newest limited edition Diptyque candle duo, Lys + Narguile, a spring collection. The two candles transport one to Moroccan riads with their scents when paired and burned together. I was only too happy to contribute to the experience with emotion evoking watercolors. Check out more pics + videos from the event HERE. It was a lot of fun to connect with so many new peeps in our LA beauty and fashion community and to personalize the boxes for their chosen candle duos! 💖 Everyone loved their boxes, and I enjoyed painting them so much! Thank you @jennyong @mybelonging @thestylesauce @amyserrano @monicawangphoto @tylynnnguyen @dathias and so many others for sharing your beautiful photos and videos of my live painting on Instagram! 🙏 You are my unofficial photogs 😜 I really enjoyed meeting you, you guys rock! 💖 Thank you SO much for having me, Diptyque! 🙏 Your amazing team was so kind and generous, and I appreciate the warm welcome. I had an amazing time and was thrilled to paint live customizations at your beautiful store in Beverly Hills, can’t wait to return! Today, my mom and I are celebrating 28 years in the States! 💙 🇺🇸 ❤️
28 years ago today, the two of us moved to Los Angeles from Romania, with one suitcase and a few words of English between the two of us, but with so much excitement to be here we could barely contain it - an impossible dream that all of a sudden became our incredible reality! October 3rd is easily the happiest day of my life, followed by a close second, March 16, the day I became a proud American citizen more than 17 years ago. The happiness, the culture shock, the disbelief that we actually moved to the promise land, aka California, to start the better parts of our lives are still so vivid in my memory. I remember telling myself on that miraculous day, almost three decades ago, that anything I will EVER do or accomplish from that day forward will be just the cherry on top. Because, as far as I was concerned, I had made the biggest, greatest dream I'd ever had come true! A true miracle! 💙 ‘Gib, Gib, come to California!’ was playing over and over in my head as we arrived at LAX in the middle of the night. The line Anthony Edwards says to John Cusack in ‘The Sure Thing’ as he’s hanging out by the pool in the dead of winter - one of the few but precious references I had to lead me as a young girl on my quest to some day live in LA, and it was actually, finally HAPPENING! ❤️ And here I am, so many years later, as grateful and incredibly happy to live an amazing life as a proud American, in this beautiful country of ours that I felt was home long before I moved here, celebrating each day and thankful I get to live here. On top of it all, it feels amazing to be going on 6 years since moving back to my beloved LA again, where it all began 28 years ago, always an LA girl at heart, and to live my dream in the only place that’s ever felt like my true home. 💙 Happy 28th anniversary, mommy! @ariclia 🥂 I love you and thank you SO much for all your sacrifices and for your constant unconditional love and support! Here’s to 28 more amazing years here at home! God bless America! 😘💙🇺🇸❤️✨ Hi guys, Super excited to announce the launch of my IGTV channel on Instagram today at @thecristinatudor! I love sharing my live painting process with you all, which is how I pant live at events like weddings, retail, fashion and entertainment events. And Instagram's new feature is just perfect for sharing all my behind-the-scenes with you! To start my IGTV channel, I chose to paint a portrait of the beautiful Luna Castilho, a stunning model and TV host from Brazil who loves supporting and empowering women. She also happens to be a model for one of my favorite bridal designers, Matthew Christopher, which is how I first came across her on Instagram and was inspired to paint her portrait. For this painting, based on one of Luna's Instagram pics, I used acrylic paints on paper and painted straight on the blank paper, cold, without drawing any preliminary sketches, using only her photo as reference. So whose fashion illustration or portrait do you want me to paint next on IGTV? Is there someone whose style you admire, a famous bride whose dress you love, or an actress/singer who inspires you? A strong woman who inspires you? Don’t hold back, flood my comments, I would LOVE to get suggestions from you guys for painting subjects! Follow along @thecristinatudor on Instagram to see who I pick for my next video and to see if your choice made the cut! ;) See you guys on IGTV! xo Cristina I recently connected with LA beauty @doreengal and we bonded over our common love of LA and fashion. So, naturally, we decided to collaborate in a way that combines these two things we both love. For our collaboration, I illustrated Doreen wearing this regal Nordstrom gown by Aidan Mattox to a wedding in Beverly Hills. Love the understated print and soft colors on this voluminous skirt! With her flowing locks, pointy toe heels and minimal clutch, Doreen looks like the belle of the ball!
Hey guys,
A few weeks ago, I shared my story of how I became an artist and illustrator with VoyageLA, an awesome magazine known for fostering collaboration and support for independent artists and entrepreneurs while showcasing the more personal side of Los Angeles. I'm super excited to announce that my interview with VoyageLA is now out, check it out here to find out more about my background, my art and illustration business and the excitements and challenges I encounter along the way. Thank you, VoyageLA, for your amazing support and for sharing my story! Hope you guys enjoy it! If you do, please drop me a line in the comments below, I'd love to hear your thoughts or any questions you may have for me :) xo, Cristina Today I am ending my year-long project 52 Live Fashion Stories with a fashion portrait of model Nicolle I painted live yesterday for the final week of my project, Week 52. I am so excited to complete this project, woohooo!! You can see more of it on Instagram.
I cannot believe I've been painting live for a full year now, you guys!! Can you believe it? I still remember the first time I put myself out there, on Week 1, and asked a perfect stranger at Jones Coffee in my neighborhood to pose for me for a live portrait! No pressure lol. Check out that very first experience, 52 weeks ago, here. And today, I can tell you I have long ago surpassed any feelings of nervousness or anxiety about painting live. Within a few weeks it felt 'normal' and comfortable. Oftentimes the fear of something is greater than the actual experience, and all we have to do is take action to move past that fear. Before we know it, we are on the other side of it. I am so happy that I pushed my limits and that I created this structure and challenge for myself. I'm excited to move forward and to conquer new fears and to reach new milestones. Wishing the very same for you, too! A big thank you for coming along this experience with me, you guys are the best! Last week, for Week 33 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories I was feeling in the Christmas spirit, so live model Amy got to wear a red Christmas bow :-)
