Hi guys,
I’m beyond excited to introduce to you my new collection of HAND PAINTED fashion illustration T-shirts! That’s right, hand painted! This T-shirt collection was born from my dream of merging my artwork with fashion, of creating artwork in a wearable form. I’ve always dreamed of seeing my paintings worn by everyone! And what better way to start this off than with a T-shirt, a staple in our day to day wardrobes that can be worn so many ways, dressed up or down. A T-shirt becomes a blank canvas, and under my brush, it turns into a wearable work of art, created especially for you here in my Los Angeles studio! To celebrate the launch of my new collection, I'm extending a VIP SPECIAL OFFER of 20% off all orders NOW thru Wednesday 3/13 at 11:59PM PST ! And all US shipping is FREE! To unlock this offer, simply visit my shop at Cristina Tudor Shop and enter code VIP20 at checkout (offer includes all T-shirts and art prints in my shop). Offer expires on Wednesday 3/13 at 11:59PM PST ! I can’t wait to see how you wear and style your T-shirt, how you make it all … you! The sky is the limit with these tees: pair them with high waisted jeans, half-tuck them in a pencil skirt, or even add them to shiny black leggings with a blazer and some sparkly earrings for a fun night out - which is how I plan to wear my 'Pink Plumeria' tee this Thursday at my live painting event with Diptyque Paris in Beverly Hills. I'll share my outfit pics from the event and my styling tips with you on Instagram @thecristinatudor on Thursday, so meet me on IG. Check out my full collection of 10 designs and share code VIP20 and my shop https://cristina-tudor-art.myshopify.com/ with your BFF or favorite boss lady, too, cuz life is better when shared with friends! :) xo Cristina

Hi guys, I remember always feeling so excited at the start of a new school year, back in the day, when summer break lasted all the way until September: new school supplies, new outfits, the smell of brand new, unopened notebooks and freshly sharpened pencils ... And all the possibilities that a fresh new beginning would bring! My FREE CALENDAR for September, Nerdy Girl, was inspired by those memories for your September calendar. Are you ready for the start of fall? Are your kids going back to school? Or perhaps you're starting a fresh new school year this September? I hope you bring Nerdy Girl along with you to whatever new adventures this September brings you. Take pics of her in the space where she inspires you daily and share them with me on Instagram: use the hashtag #ctudorcalendar and tag me @thecristinatudor so I can see them! It would make my day, and I would love to feature your pics of the calendar on my Instagram! :)) Didn't get my Nerdy Girl? Subscribe on my blog page at cristinatudor.com, add your name and email, and check the 'Email' box in the subscription settings, and she's on her way to you. It's super easy! And share my website with your friend and family so they can get my free calendar every month, too!
Enjoy the calendar! xo Cristina Hi guys, Super excited to announce the launch of my IGTV channel on Instagram today at @thecristinatudor! I love sharing my live painting process with you all, which is how I pant live at events like weddings, retail, fashion and entertainment events. And Instagram's new feature is just perfect for sharing all my behind-the-scenes with you! To start my IGTV channel, I chose to paint a portrait of the beautiful Luna Castilho, a stunning model and TV host from Brazil who loves supporting and empowering women. She also happens to be a model for one of my favorite bridal designers, Matthew Christopher, which is how I first came across her on Instagram and was inspired to paint her portrait. For this painting, based on one of Luna's Instagram pics, I used acrylic paints on paper and painted straight on the blank paper, cold, without drawing any preliminary sketches, using only her photo as reference. So whose fashion illustration or portrait do you want me to paint next on IGTV? Is there someone whose style you admire, a famous bride whose dress you love, or an actress/singer who inspires you? A strong woman who inspires you? Don’t hold back, flood my comments, I would LOVE to get suggestions from you guys for painting subjects! Follow along @thecristinatudor on Instagram to see who I pick for my next video and to see if your choice made the cut! ;) See you guys on IGTV! xo Cristina I recently connected with LA beauty @doreengal and we bonded over our common love of LA and fashion. So, naturally, we decided to collaborate in a way that combines these two things we both love. For our collaboration, I illustrated Doreen wearing this regal Nordstrom gown by Aidan Mattox to a wedding in Beverly Hills. Love the understated print and soft colors on this voluminous skirt! With her flowing locks, pointy toe heels and minimal clutch, Doreen looks like the belle of the ball!
Hey guys,
A few weeks ago, I shared my story of how I became an artist and illustrator with VoyageLA, an awesome magazine known for fostering collaboration and support for independent artists and entrepreneurs while showcasing the more personal side of Los Angeles. I'm super excited to announce that my interview with VoyageLA is now out, check it out here to find out more about my background, my art and illustration business and the excitements and challenges I encounter along the way. Thank you, VoyageLA, for your amazing support and for sharing my story! Hope you guys enjoy it! If you do, please drop me a line in the comments below, I'd love to hear your thoughts or any questions you may have for me :) xo, Cristina Third time's a charm: collaborating again with The Soap Kitchen in Pasadena for Mother's Day with two new card designs, and I couldn't be more excited!! The cards are now available at The Soap Kitchen in Old Town Pasadena at 25 N Fair Oaks Ave. Join me on Instagram @thecristinatudor for my countdown to a special day, Mother's Day, the day we celebrate the amazing and strong women who brought us into this world!
First off, I want to wish my mom a very happy Mother's Day! Mommy, without you I would not BE. Period. I am amazed at how much you had to go through to bring me into this world, to raise me on your own with little-to-no support from dad, to battle for me my entire life, to make me your number ONE priority like a true mom, to sacrifice and give up SO MUCH to make my childhood a happy and carefree one! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Words cannot express how grateful and thankful I am to have a mom like YOU!! You amaze me and inspire me every day, and I love you sooooo much!! xoxoxo <3 Well, my mom is sure getting a custom painted card from me, that's for sure - the very least I can do :-) And I'm happy I can share my Mother's Day cards with all of you, too, hope your moms like them! You can find my two Mother's Day card designs at The Soap Kitchen, the cutest soap shop owned by Dali Yu. Dali makes all the soap and lip balm by hand, from scratch, with love and care, using only natural ingredients. She also designs all the packaging, the gift baskets and wrapping for everything in her shop! Amazing!! The soaps and lip balms are so good for you and they look super pretty, they make the best gifts either on their own or as part of a gift basket. Not sure what to give your mom for Mother's Day this year? Pick up a quick and cute pre-packaged or custom gift basket with yummy bath goodies and one of my Mother's Day cards to go with it, and you're all set. Easy peasy. Plus: mom will love you that much more for the bath goodies and thoughtful gift! <3 The card above was inspired by all the wishful thinking I know moms go through during those tough days of raising us: dreaming of traveling to romantic and beautiful places like Paris, having a great reason (and time!) to get all dressed up, do their hair and make up, take a breath and enjoy the view ... or simply just have time to take a shower! Even if those dreams of elegance and travel are put on hold for now, a luxurious bath experience with all-natural olive oil soap or shea butter soap and bath salts from The Soap Kitchen is easily within reach! Make mom happy this Mother's Day with a beautiful self-care gift! Below is my second Mother's Day card: classic ballet pointe shoes. Because every woman is still a little girl at heart, dreaming of some day becoming a ballerina ... Happy Mother's day to all moms out there! xoxo Cristina Today I am ending my year-long project 52 Live Fashion Stories with a fashion portrait of model Nicolle I painted live yesterday for the final week of my project, Week 52. I am so excited to complete this project, woohooo!! You can see more of it on Instagram.
I cannot believe I've been painting live for a full year now, you guys!! Can you believe it? I still remember the first time I put myself out there, on Week 1, and asked a perfect stranger at Jones Coffee in my neighborhood to pose for me for a live portrait! No pressure lol. Check out that very first experience, 52 weeks ago, here. And today, I can tell you I have long ago surpassed any feelings of nervousness or anxiety about painting live. Within a few weeks it felt 'normal' and comfortable. Oftentimes the fear of something is greater than the actual experience, and all we have to do is take action to move past that fear. Before we know it, we are on the other side of it. I am so happy that I pushed my limits and that I created this structure and challenge for myself. I'm excited to move forward and to conquer new fears and to reach new milestones. Wishing the very same for you, too! A big thank you for coming along this experience with me, you guys are the best! Portrait of live model Aurora last week, with a longing look in her eyes, for Week 44 of 52 Live Fashion Stories.
On Thursday night, March 1st, I attended the opening of my very first art show! So exciting!! I have the honor to be one of 13 artists to exhibit work at the Critical Content Art Initiative at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood from March until August. What an honor to be featured among so many talented and creative people! ♡ My brand new artwork for this exhibit is a series of six monochromatic acrylic portraits on 24”x36” canvases. These portraits are inspired by the classic Hollywood beauties and iconic women Vivien Leigh, Katharine Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Greta Garbo, Bette Davis and Ingrid Bergman. Strong women, with unique personalities and creative talent, who were able to evoke emotion with a simple glance. Their eyes could not be more different, yet each one could pierce the silver screen with a unique and identifiable well placed look. When I started thinking about what I wanted to bring to this exhibit, I knew I wanted to create a series of simple and minimal monochrome paintings. The glamour and style of the Hollywood Golden Age have always been a powerful influence for me, especially the monochromatic feel of black and white movies. While I was growing up in Eastern Europe, behind the dreaded 'iron curtain', my access to movies was pretty much limited to old classics - we didn't even own a color tv! Our photos were mostly black and white too, because color film was too expensive and hard to come by. Our entire life was lived in shades of grey, in more ways than one. Even though I grew up decades later, in many ways I was more connected to the 40's and 50's and to that aesthetic focused on shape, values and contrast more than color. Can you imagine the colorful 80's in black and white? I mean, the 80's! There was no color explosion for me during that time, that's for sure, and even as a kid I was drawn to grey, much to my mother's frustration :-) Of the six portraits I painted, I try not to play favorites, but Vivien Leigh is up there for me. With a simple raising of an eyebrow, she made Scarlett O'Hara an iconic and fierce character - her famous last line in 'Gone With The Wind', 'After all, tomorrow is another day' is filled with both sheer determination and hope. Katharine Hepburn is one of the strongest inspirations for me. Her quote 'If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun' is something I think about often. And I hope I am at least somewhat successful at having some of that fun ... Sophia Loren was quoted as saying: 'Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful'. What a great lesson in self-confidence! Believing in ourselves is definitely something we can all use more. 'I wish I were supernaturally strong so I could put right everything that is wrong' - Greta Garbo's wish to make all right with the world. Bette Davis believed you should 'Attempt the impossible in order to improve your work'. Fearless! 'I regret the things I didn't do, not what I did' said Ingrid Bergman. Follow your heart, do the things you want to do, and don't let anything stop you. Spending time with each of these leading ladies, getting to know them better as I painted their portraits was a big leap for me as an artist, and it certainly made me feel like I was not letting doubt or fear of the end result stop me from doing something I really wanted to do. I knew I would not regret pushing forward, but I would definitely regret not going for it. It's all about taking a chance and following your heart and your intuition. The opening was so much fun, and I was very happy to have reinforcements for moral support :-) A huge thank you to my awesome and always supportive boyfriend Keith, for always being there for me, in so many ways, big and small 😘 and to my cool friends Natalie, Quincy, Mimi and Norris who took time out of their busy schedules in the middle of the week to come out to West Hollywood on a Thursday night. I know it's not an easy thing to do after work, and in rush hour traffic, no less! Thanks for all your support and encouragement, you guys, on this night and always - love you all so much ♡ Thanks, Norris, for taking many of the pics and for the DSLR crash course, this iPhone girl is definitely a convert now ;-) Mimi even let me borrow some of her stylish photo poses, too, lol. Always so much fun with these two! My portraits will be on display at Critical Content until August and available for purchase. Thanks for having me, Critical Content! And thank you so much Colette Daze @cocolettied for your kindness and support, the opening was a huge success, you did an incredible job pulling it all together! Congratulations, my friend! 😘 If you’re not familiar with @CriticalContent, they produce some great shows like Limitless on CBS and The Writer’s Room on Sundance – check out their website at criticalcontent.com Last but not least, thank you to everyone who came on Thursday night to support the artists and the show! Congratulations to all the participating artists! You guys are amazingly talented and inspiring! All my best to you ♡ ps - The exhibit will be up through August at the Critical Content address below, if you would like to check it out:
Painted live model Susan's fashion portrait last week for Week 43 of 52 Live Fashion Stories, which was so much fun! Love her head full of curls!
Live model Rachel was my inspiration last week for Week 40 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories. She looks right through you, with her clear eyes and ethereal gaze ...
Live model Aussie became my inspiration last week for Week 39 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories. Like a romantic and wistful princess in waiting ...
For Week 38 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories last week I painted live model Amanda's portrait again. I love her curls and this soft pose looking down, it feels very Wuthering Heights, very Bronte!
Last week, for Week 36 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories I painted live model Nicolle's portrait again ... and the funny think is she looks like another Nicole in this pose, a famous one (hint: Kidman ;-)
Last week I painted live model Nicolle's portrait, for Week 35 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories. What a great pose, I like the way her hands frame her face.
Last week, for Week 34 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories I painted live model Amy's portrait again, playing with a different flat brush for the hair texture.
Last week, for Week 33 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories I was feeling in the Christmas spirit, so live model Amy got to wear a red Christmas bow :-)
