 Hi guys, I received many requests to paint portraits with face masks on, and even though, oddly enough, some of my earlier work is of partially hidden faces peeking from behind hopeful symbols like flowers and stars, part of me rejects the idea of painting a masked face. I’m guessing this feeling is simply my resistance to this new reality as I am scrambling to adjust to this new ‘normal’ and trying to wrap my brain around this new reality that just sprung on us seemingly overnight. I feel at least 10 steps behind, and my emotions are a big jumble. And this part of me, the part scrambling to keep up, is rejecting the reality of what we are all facing, receiving a jolt with every new dose of this shocking new reality. But an even bigger part of me is moved to my core by the hope and love I see all around us, near and far. As hard as it is to wrap my brain around the eerie fact that e v e r y s i n g l e p e r s o n on this entire planet is strangely united by the same thing I am experiencing right now, the miracles of humans coming together move me to tears. So instead of trying to figure it all out right now, this very minute, I decided to let it be. I decided to be ok with having all these conflicting feelings and just put paint to paper … the result, Hearts Girl, is not masking, not hiding or concealing, but what I see as all-surrounding uplifting love for each and every one of us ... 💕 #wereinthistogether xo Cristina PS - Didn’t get Hearts Girl?
