With Halloween already here, I was in the mood to paint a Halloween themed illustration this morning. I was inspired by Kate Moss in a glamorous black mask with bunny ears, kinda the perfect Halloween costume.
Happy Halloween! xo Cristina

Today I was inspired to bring high fashion to my fave place in LA: the beach, as I'm imagining the soft ocean breeze adding romance to a long, billowy dress ...
A short while ago, I was commissioned by Ted Baker London to paint live fashion illustrations of their customers at three separate events for the launching of their new Colour By Numbers capsule collection at stores throughout Los Angeles. I had such an amazing time combining the looks from the collection with customers I met in the store, in real life. I absolutely love ‘dressing up’ customers in their favorite looks, on the spot! The new Colour By Numbers collection is a fresh take on easy-to-wear styles that were made with the modern minimalist in mind. I am thrilled to share with you guys what this whole amazing experience was like, the fashion, the process and some of my illustrations. The first capsule launch event took place at the Westfield Century City mall on a Friday afternoon. I was super excited to meet the store team, to paint the new fab Colour By Numbers collection and to celebrate with the customers. Every item in this new capsule is so well designed, and the colors and patterns are a lot of fun. I seriously love every piece! The next day, on Saturday, I went to the Santa Monica Place store, adjacent to the 3rd Street Promenade and right next to the beach and the Santa Monica Pier, where I got to meet some lovely customers who were as excited about the new collection as I was. This beauty chose this fun and flirty @ted_colourbynumbers chiffon dress with an all-over heart print for me to paint her in at the Santa Monica Place store. From Santa Monica, I braved the LA traffic on the PCH to the store at the Malibu Country Mart, which is one of my favorite places to visit, get fashion inspiration and hang out here in LA. Made it with time to spare and got down to live painting the customers in their favorite outfits from the collection. A closer look at this lovely Ted Baker London customer in Malibu, who chose this chic heart-printed romper from the new Colour By Numbers capsule for me to paint her in. And let’s not forget the most awesome heels with wide ankle straps from the Ted Baker collection! She went from life to illustration in just a few short minutes, super fun! #fromlifetoillo I dressed up @audiebgood in her fave dress from the new Colour By Numbers capsule for her live sketch at the Malibu Country Mart store, complete with these fab lavender and purple @ted_baker heels with ankle straps! I took her from life to illustration in her favorite outfit on the spot. #fromlifetoillo What an amazing collaboration and experience! Thank you for having me, @ted_baker, I’ve had so much fun live-painting customers in their #TedToToe looks from the collection and working with such a great team of people! I loved every minute of it! Looking forward to the next one!
A short while ago I had the chance to meet Matthew, the incredible designer and creator of the Matthew Christopher bridal label. His wedding dresses are a dream, and I was super excited to paint live fashion illustrations of his amazing designs at the Panache Bridal salon in Pasadena. Brides-to-be received one of my custom fashion illustrations with a Matthew gown purchase. I was delighted to create these tangible keepsakes for these ladies to celebrate and remember the special moment they found the wedding dress of their dreams! It was a pleasure to witness the moving experience of finding the perfect Matthew Christopher wedding gown for all the happy brides who said Yes to the dress and will be #marriedinmatthew ! Here is a small collection of memories from the two wonderful days I spent with all the beautiful Matthew Christopher brides at Panache Bridal in Pasadena:
Thank you, Matthew and team, for having me, and thanks Panache for being such generous and kind hosts, I had an amazing time!
I find inspiration pretty much everywhere: in street fashion, magazines, on Pinterest and Instagram ... And a lot of times on my daily walk or run. Today it's raining here in Los Angeles, finally, and I got to take my walk through my neighborhood in the rain, which is such a rare treat for me these days. Long gone are the cold Chicago days, and now that I've been back in my beloved LA almost 6 years, it's hard to come by weather much. But today, even though it's overcast, the air is crisp, the greens are happy and the colors are saturated and vibrant! These birds of paradise beauties were winking at me as I was walking by, just begging to be painted, with their flirtatious oranges and greens and purples. And after my walk in the rain, I came home and painted their portrait, letting orange and red and pink and purple and green dialogue and merge in serendipitous moments on the paper 🧡💚💜 Wishing you lots of inspiration this beautiful weekend and happy times outdoors! xo Cristina Obsessed with the explosion of color at the @prabalgurung New York Fashion Week Spring 2018 show! 💖💛💚💜 This look, with the sheer neon green over the yellow body suit and pops of colorblocked hot fuchsia is fantastic! And the shoes?? Yes, please! Genius!! Loved painting this from beginning to end! Follow me on Instagram at @thecristinatudor to see the latest and most current of my fashion illustrations. Today, my mom and I are celebrating 28 years in the States! 💙 🇺🇸 ❤️
28 years ago today, the two of us moved to Los Angeles from Romania, with one suitcase and a few words of English between the two of us, but with so much excitement to be here we could barely contain it - an impossible dream that all of a sudden became our incredible reality! October 3rd is easily the happiest day of my life, followed by a close second, March 16, the day I became a proud American citizen more than 17 years ago. The happiness, the culture shock, the disbelief that we actually moved to the promise land, aka California, to start the better parts of our lives are still so vivid in my memory. I remember telling myself on that miraculous day, almost three decades ago, that anything I will EVER do or accomplish from that day forward will be just the cherry on top. Because, as far as I was concerned, I had made the biggest, greatest dream I'd ever had come true! A true miracle! 💙 ‘Gib, Gib, come to California!’ was playing over and over in my head as we arrived at LAX in the middle of the night. The line Anthony Edwards says to John Cusack in ‘The Sure Thing’ as he’s hanging out by the pool in the dead of winter - one of the few but precious references I had to lead me as a young girl on my quest to some day live in LA, and it was actually, finally HAPPENING! ❤️ And here I am, so many years later, as grateful and incredibly happy to live an amazing life as a proud American, in this beautiful country of ours that I felt was home long before I moved here, celebrating each day and thankful I get to live here. On top of it all, it feels amazing to be going on 6 years since moving back to my beloved LA again, where it all began 28 years ago, always an LA girl at heart, and to live my dream in the only place that’s ever felt like my true home. 💙 Happy 28th anniversary, mommy! @ariclia 🥂 I love you and thank you SO much for all your sacrifices and for your constant unconditional love and support! Here’s to 28 more amazing years here at home! God bless America! 😘💙🇺🇸❤️✨ Hi guys, Are you as excited as I am about October and Halloween at the end of the month? Thought so! Every October 1st I get super excited about Halloween, and I start thinking about costume ideas. I love Halloween so much that sometimes I make 2 or 3 costumes and wear them at different parties, or even just during the day around town or during my work day. This year I’m leaning towards being a unicorn. Ya know, a rainbow of color, gold unicorn horn and lots of gold and sparkle! Gotta get my color and sparkle fix! ;) And of course, your calendar for October was inspired by my unicorn dreams, so I give you: Unicorn Girl! I hope you like Unicorn Girl, and maybe she’ll even inspire you to get going on your Halloween costume early on this year – I know I will! Take pics of your colorful Unicorn Girl in the space where she inspires you daily and share them with me on Instagram: use the hashtag #ctudorcalendar and tag me @thecristinatudor so I can see them! It would make my day, and I would love to feature your pics on my Instagram! And I definitely want to see pics of your Halloween costume this year, too :) If your friends need some Halloween inspiration, or you just want to brighten their day, please share my website cristinatudor.com with them so they can download Unicorn Girl, too - if they sign up for the calendar at any time during the month of October, she will arrive immediately in their inbox. Didn't get my Unicorn Girl? Subscribe at cristinatudor.com, add your name and email, and check the 'Email' box in the subscription settings, and she's on her way to you. It's super easy!
