Last Saturday I was excited to be part of the annual Head Wraps In The Park festival and to paint live watercolor portraits for Week 22 of my 52 Live Fashion Stories. The event was hosted by the Runway Boutique L.A. store on La Brea, and this year it took place at Grand Park in Down Town LA. It turned out to be super fun with lots of color, music, food and of course, head wraps! Keeping cool under the tent at my booth in the hot and sunny LA day and painting the stunning Onyi. Her face makeup was out-of-this-world perfection! I got to catch up with Gia @themahoganybox - whose portrait I first painted at the Mimi G Fashion & Sewing Conference at the J. W. Marriott at LA Live back in June, check it out here, she was wearing a turquoise head wrap. On Saturday, I painted her portrait for a second time, this time with a blue head wrap! So good to see you, miss Gia, always a pleasure! Gia brought her friend Sheri, who was also wearing a beautiful and colorful head wrap! Loved painting Lauren with her sleek and stylish bob, so cool! She said: 'I'm still in shock; the portrait looks beyond amazing!' Thanks so much, Lauren, I'm so happy you like your portrait! Corina is such a classic beauty! So inspired by her striking eyes and curls! No head wrap for Michael ;-) but he was rockin' a cool red cap! Charita with awesome cornrows and braids! Sebek was excited to see her portrait! She said: 'Incredible experience! A work of true Art! I look forward to introducing all my friends to you!' Thank you for the kind words, Sebek, and thanks for stopping by to have your portrait painted! I had so much fun at Head Wraps In The Park on Saturday! It was great to meet so many wonderful and kind people, from the organizers of the event, to the volunteers, the vendors and my fab clients/models! Thanks everyone for coming out and having your portraits painted! I appreciate your support and feedback more than you can imagine. Check out this fun hyperlapse video of how fun it was to paint live portraits on Saturday: Thank you Head Wraps In The Park, Fatima Dodson & Amtu, and thanks to Djibril Drame, the curator of Head Wraps In The Park for inviting me to attend the event. So nice to meet you all!
