Happy December 1st!  To me, December 1st means the start of my favorite time of the year: Christmas time!  I love Christmas, but it could also be because my birthday is on December 27, so each year I have a lot to celebrate.  This whole month I love to decorate my home for the holidays and to celebrate the season every day by doing fun, Christmasy things.  I turn on my Christmas lights every night, I listen to Christmas music while I work, watch Christmas movies like ‘Elf’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, and I paint with lots of red, gold and sparkles!

December 6 is also St. Nick’s in many parts of the world, including Romania where I grew up.  St. Nicholas is the Christian Orthodox patron saint of Romania (as well as Greece, Russia and several other countries).  He’s celebrated by all the kids cleaning and polishing their boots really well and putting them out the night before, so St. Nick can fill them up with presents - very similar to stocking stuffers.  And you’d better clean those boots or else he’s going to leave only a stick for those naughty kids :)
