Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s midnight blue Zuhair Murad Fall 2015 gown at the 73rd Golden Globes this month was exceptional! What a gorgeous gown, so dreamy! The silhouette had a classic shape, with a beautiful narrow waist and a bottom with ballgown fullness. The low cut made it very modern and fresh. Not to mention the pockets! I absolutely love pockets on a floor length full gown, and this year this modern detail made an appearance in more dresses than one. The shape, color and cut of this gown were sublime on Jenna, so flattering and a complete standout. Amazing couture from Zuhair Murad, again and again. I also love this shade of dark navy blue! Starting with a linework sketch as usual, and working my way up to layers of this lovely color. Watercoloring midnight blue is right up my alley, I’m always so attracted to shades of blue. And leaving something unfinished in the dress created layers of blues on the white paper, something watercolor does best in a way that's always a fascinating surprise. The layers of blue and white give it the illusion of sparkle, suggesting the celestial silver texture of the actual dress in my loose interpretation of it.
