Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🎨

I hope my July calendar finds you well!

I was inspired to paint this month’s calendar by the upcoming 4th of July and the Black Lives Matter movement.

As I painted Independence Girl, my heart was full of hope that this 4th of July will mark the beginning of a newfound independence from bigotry and prejudice! My biggest wish is that now we will finally stop treating people differently simply based on the color of their skin. I hope that all the protests will be heard and we will FINALLY make the leap towards living as one race: the human race!

I hope Independence Girl brightens up your days this month and brings you hope!

Hi guys,

I hope my email finds you and yours well and healthy, even if stuck indoors and anxious for this rough patch to pass quickly. A lot has been put on hold in our lives at the moment.  But art will not be canceled! 🎨

As we are spending more time indoors and experiencing increased anxiety during these difficult times, I would like to bring more joy and peace into all our daily lives with my artwork. Painting is so healing and relaxing for me, and I would love to share that feeling with you, to dream up new images together, to stay positive and strong and to focus on something that makes us all feel good!

So, starting TOMORROW, March 18, 2020, I am expanding my live painting into the digital world as much as possible. I will do live painting sessions on Instagram @thecristinatudor every day during the week, which I am calling #PAINTFLIX - a hashtag I created almost 2 years ago (July 3, 2018 to be exact, ha!) when I was painting and watching Netflix ... Now it has become the one word I use to describe mixing my painting with live streaming ;)

As I wish you well, I am inviting you, your kids, your friends and loved ones to meet me on Instagram every week day at 1 PM PST starting TOMORROW so we can paint together! 👩🏻‍🎨  Watch me paint in real time to relax, or even join in on the fun and paint along if you’d like! The calendar for March, Daffodil Girl, is here!  My inspiration for this month’s calendar was spring daffodils, which are one of my fave flowers with their yellow star shapes and fragrant spring scent.  

Daffodils remind me of growing up in Bucharest, Romania, of early spring days when they would fight the last of winter and would burst through patches of snow.  

March 1 is a Romanian holiday called Martisor, a Valentine’s Day of sorts celebrating love.  Boys would give their crushes special, cute little charms tied with red and white silk strings with one red and one white tassel at each end, and students would give them to their favorite teachers as a sign of caring. We would pin all the charms we received on our chests on our uniforms and wear them proudly all day in school, and sometimes for an entire week or two well into March.

March 8 is also International Woman’s Day, celebrated widely throughout Europe, and I loved combining these two holidays and my memories of celebrating them in Daffodil Girl.  I hope you enjoy her and she brings warm spring sunshine your way with her yellow daffodil starbursts.

Happy December 1st!  This month marks a full TWO YEARS that I’ve been creating this free calendar for you, and I can’t believe it’s been this long!  I’m so happy to know that you’re still enjoying my calendar, and I’m excited to continue the tradition in 2020. 
 
If you’ve been around for a while, you know that December is my favorite month of the year, not only because of Christmas, but also because it’s my birthday on December 27 (which I gave a slight nod to with the dark purple on the calendar for that date lol). 
 
And I’m already getting in the mood for Christmas with twinkling lights, holiday music and making some Christmas ornaments this year.  This is the perfect time of year for some fun and cozy DYIs while sipping on hot cocoa and having a fun holiday movie like ‘Elf’ or ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ playing in the background.
 
I’m also excited to paint at some amazing holiday live fashion illustration events that are coming up this month, which I’ll be sharing with you on Instagram @thecristinatudor

With Halloween just behind is, it’s time for sweater weather all over again. Leopard Girl is ready for a cozy November with her cold shoulder leopard print sweater inspired by yummy and warm fall colors as she’s getting ready for Thanksgiving at the end of the month.

Halloween is almost here, it’s only a month away!  Woohoo!  And I’m totally getting in the mood for fun costumes and trick or treating.  So it’s no surprise that this year I’m once again doing a Halloween themed October calendar – my second one so far, as I’m getting close to the end of a full second year of offering you this free printable calendar every month … can you believe it??  Almost 2 full years of creating a brand new, fresh calendar each month, I’m so excited about this cool milestone :)
